A beautiful and authentic antique Edwardian Suffragette brooch, crafted in 9ct rose gold and dating to 1910. The brooch is centred with a richly coloured oval Almandine garnet, surrounded by six vibrant peridot gemstones delicately set within an elegant, scrolling frilled framework. The refined openwork design is typical of the Edwardian period and displays exceptional craftsmanship. The gemstones reflect the historic colours of the Women’s Suffragette Movement of the early 20th century: Green (peridot gems) for Hope White (represented here by the gold setting) for Purity Violet (the garnet) for Loyalty Together, these colours symbolised the rallying cry: “Give Women Votes.” The brooch is fully hallmarked to Chester, 1910, with the maker’s mark M&J (Male & Jones). It remains in excellent original antique condition, retaining its crisp detail and strong colour throughout. A truly special piece of historic jewellery, wearable, collectible, and rich in meaning.
